Bathroom Ideas - Trends & Fashions

While bathrooms are now considered high-fashion items, few can afford to replace a bathroom as often as their wardrobe. So, while trends may come and go, if you are planning a new bathroom it’s important to achieve a look that will stand the test of time.

As is wise when choosing clothing, in the bathroom, core pieces of high quality sanitaryware should represent your key investment. Look for classic shapes in pure white, with minimum fuss, especially if you are aiming for a streamlined, modern style. More angular, Art Deco-style sanitaryware is currently proving popular and its timeless charm again makes it a safe, future-proof choice.

RelaxationIn terms of lay-out, one of the latest looks revolves around creating a ‘his n her’ space with dual basins (preferably lotus-mounted on a chunky counter for added interest) and separate vanity storage. This prevents jostling over mirror space, and also provides a high-end, luxury look for minimal outlay.

Use fixtures, fitting and bathroom accessories to add individual design flair and personalise your space. According to the latest colour predictions, while natural, earthy tones are set to remain popular in 2007, the look is set to get much deeper and more dramatic, with rich, dark chocolates and velvety hues warming up the bathroom to create a cocoon-like sanctuary. Iridescent and reflective materials, such as pearlised glass tiles, mirrors and frameless shower enclosures will all help to add excitement and drama to the space.

RelaxationWall-mounted taps, for both basin and bath, are also currently a hot choice as they help create clean lines and minimise visible pipework. In the shower, integral controls again offer a sleek finish, with coordination throughout all brassware and accessories key to achieving that all-important luxurious look.
