Eco Bathrooms

Keen to be green? Make a difference by choosing water saving bathroom products.

Did you know?

  • The average Brit uses 150 litres of water every day - a third of this is used flushing the loo
  • A five minute shower uses around a third less water than a bath, although a power shower can use more water than a bath in less than five minutes
  • Domestic heating water accounts for 5% of the UK's CO2 emissions
  • At least 25% of your household's energy bill comes from heating water - that's not including the central heating
  • The energy used to pump, treat and heat the annual water usage in the average family's home produces the carbon equivalent of a return flight from London to New York

Saving water at home takes very little effort, but makes a surprisingly big difference - and with plenty of gorgeous water saving products now available, it's never been easier to add a touch of eco chic to your home.

One of the easiest ways to start saving water is by fitting flow limiters to your taps and showers. These nifty little devices will cost around £5 and can be easily fitted between the water outlet and the hose on a shower, and in either the tail or the spout of the tap to help you immediately save water. Or you could change your taps to water saving ones that have a clever eco-click cartridge in them that can help save up to 72% of your water usage.

If you want to make a big saving, then think about swapping your loo for a dual flush loo - like Bristan's Dune. With a flush as low as 2.6 litres per minute (compared to the standard 9 litres per minute) the Dune loo can help you make significant water savings. A low capacity Dune bath is also available, which can save you a third of your water usage, and you can complete the look with a matching Dune basin.
