Default Rectangular Bath Information

Rectangular Baths

Rectangular baths are usually built-in with a front bath panel along the long edge and an end panel for the foot of the bath if needed, or inset into a tiled platform. Although you will find rectangular baths made from steel or cast iron, the most popular choice is acrylic, since this is a lightweight yet very strong material which is easily moulded into the required shape and design, particularly with detailed designs such as rope twists and angular edges, soap dishes etc. It is also a material which can be made to colour match with the rest of your bathroom suite, although white is without doubt the most popular colour choice today.

Rectangular baths are either single-ended, where the taps and plughole are at one end, or double-ended, where the taps and plughole are in the centre on one side of the bath. Some baths are supplied without tapholes to give you more freedom with your choice of taps, but this may mean more DIY at home.

Sizes vary from short tubs of 1 metre long or less up to a very spacious 1.8m or more, and up to a metre wide in some cases, though a very popular bath size is 1.7m by 70cm or 75cm. The Portland bath is 1.524m x 75cm which is great for small bathrooms and the Vermonte Double Ended bath from Heritage with its art deco styling measures 1.8m x 80cm, perfect for two to share!
