Default Shower Tray Information

Shower Trays

shower traysShower trays come in range of shapes and sizes, from squares to rectangles to quarter circles and angled corner shapes. Some trays are shallow, which makes climbing in and out much easier, particularly if you are not so steady on your feet, whereas others are quite a bit taller. You will probably choose your shower enclosure based on the size and shape of your shower tray, which will be determined by how much space you have in your bathroom, and where the shower must fit.

Trays are often made from what is known as grp or glass reinforced plastic, which is a lightweight acrylic tray reinforced underneath with glass fibre. The tray comes with adjustable feet so that you can make the tray level, and sits on top of a 2-sided acrylic panel piece. Some trays may be in one piece, with tall sides instead of a separate panel.

Alternatively, trays may be manufactured from stone resin, which is a much heavier and solid material, with an acrylic surface.

Shower tray wastes can vary in size and will therefore allow water to drain away at different rates. The bigger the hole, the faster it will drain away. It is important though that the tray is plumb level so that water drains away completely, otherwise you will always have a pool of water left in the tray.
