Mixer Showers
What is a Mixer Shower?
A
mixer shower uses a simple shower valve to blend your hot
and cold water supplies to achieve the showering temperature
and flow that you desire. They offer the greatest choice in
styles and finishes and there is a vast choice of design from
minimal ‘Contemporary’ to traditional ‘Victorian’.
Mixer showers, or valves, as they are sometimes referred
to, draw hot and cold water from your household supplies and
are ideal for homes that have a readily available supply of
stored hot water. They can also be used if you have a combination
boiler or multipoint water heater.
They give a higher flow rate than an electric shower, but
are not as powerful as a power shower – unless you add
an additional pump to boost the flow.
Mixer showers are available in both manual and thermostatic
models; the thermostatic valve maintaining an exact temperature,
even if water is drawn off elsewhere in the home.
Mixer showers can have either one or two control levers or
dials, depending upon whether you want to control temperature
and water flow independently or at the same time.
